One other thing, when you do changes to the client version in Link
Manager - the first person into Powerlink on the terminal server (which
you should do this as the Admin) will check and see there are client
changes. If there are, then the new client will download into this
directory on the terminal server. Every person accessing Powerlink
there after will receive the log on window within a few seconds, and it
will not re-download for each person.
Hope this helps.

Chris,
I can backup what David has done. We have an IXA Microsoft terminal
server that has 16GB RAM and lots of disk as well, and it works like a
champ at remote locations. One thing to add; however, so you only
download the Powerlink client application once for all users on the
terminal server. You will need to create an xml file and name it
MyReplicationProperties.xml (see below). Then place this into
/MAPICS/AMALIBx/Web/PowerLink on the iSeries. This version will cause
PowerLink to be loaded into C:\temp\MAPICS\ERP_for_iSeries directory (if
it doesn't exist, it will create it) on the terminal server and regular
client PCs. If necessary, edit the file and replace 'C:/temp....' with
a preferred location or one that will be accessible to all users on the
terminal server.
By doing so you will avoid all you users accessing the terminal server
the pain of downloading the 100 MB java Powerlink client into each
persons C:\Document and Settings directory.
MyReplicationProperties.xml
------------------------------------
<?xml version="1.0" ?>
- <Configuration>
<External url="MyReplicationProperties.xml" />
- <Property name="com.pjx.webstart.ClientDirectory">
- <Assignment process="mapics-login">
C:/temp/MAPICS/ERP_for_iSeries
<GetProperty name="substitution.WEBSTART_PATH" />
/
</Assignment>
</Property>
</Configuration>

Chris,
We deployed approximately 60 users over a T-1 line connected to a
Microsoft
terminal server farm. The connection and response time of Power-Link
was
essentially the same as those who were on the local network with the
host
iSeries. We also used the terminal servers to establish green screen
sessions. We had no problems with this connection. The functionality
of
being able to download out of Power-Link to Excel on the local machine
(not
the terminal server) worked with no problems. The terminal servers we
used
were powerful machines with dual processors, lots of RAM (8GB as I
remember)
and plenty of disk space. We employed a virtual server with load
balancing
to keep the machines in the farm evenly loaded.

Can release 7 Powerlink be run from a citrix server? Does this improve
performance? Has anyone done this?
Thanks for any assistance.
