Does anyone have any experience using Mapics Order Policy A with Safety Stock? This would be for "A" items with erratic demand and long lead times. How does MRP handle the discrete requirements if safety stock is available? Is a planned order created for the discrete requirement even though SS is on-hand? We want to minimize inventory because these items represent significant dollars, but we need to have some buffer stock on hand to guard against the high variation since lead-times are long. If this isn't feasible, what recommendation would you make regarding the order policy code for these types of item? Thank you, Kirk Peat Eaton Electrical Operational Excellence
