The 65,534 is a register limit, "FFFF" is 65,536. Don't they teach hexidecimal anymore? (I'm showing my age!) I don't know if Access has the same limitations. We don't use it, we use the iSeries as our database management system. However, a Microsoft partner also sells a package called FRx that has been in the MPower Expo for a couple years, that may also be an alternative, depending on what information they need - it sounds like an accounting issue in the initial e-mail. They may NOT need to pull all of IMHIST in (that would be horrendous for us, we have almost 3 million records written to IMHIST every year). There's more information is available at www.frxsoftware.com. We will be looking at this package ourselves later.
