Like others on the list we also had to write our own solution.
We need to track serial numbers for the final assembly and the components 
that go into the assembly.

We wrote a system that allows the end user to pick the top level assembly 
and then allows them to select the components that go into the assembly.
Once done the system creates the necessary MO's and uses the MOMAST column 
JOBNO to tie all the MO's back to a customer order.
When the order is being assembled, the folks on the floor go into this 
system and use a bar code reader to scan in the serial numbers of the
components. We use the COM offline shipping to automatically perform the 
shipping function on the orders that have been RM'd.
