   Why doesn't the sample trigger program for custom objects and t= he user
   exit for MAPICS objects allow us to write before and after field hi= story
   the same way that is done for MAPICS objects?

   Mike,

   Experiences like yours using the sample user exits at R6 and= earlier is
   the the main reason we now create the user exit programs in R7    Integrator 
for you.  In R6 you had to modify the user exits to tell th= em
   about your files and fields.  R7 Integrator knows how to put alot o= f
    info in the user exits for you.  Also, you are correct, the tr= ansaction
   model used by the client applications is different than most prog= rammers
   are accustom to working with.

    =     I have done it.   It was no easy job.  = We are creating a custom
   time &
   &= nbsp;    expenses billing application interfaced with= COM using
   Integrator.  The
   &nbs= p;    sample programs you get from MAPICS have bugs i= n them (or
   did, but I doubt
    &nb= sp;   if anyone has updated them).   I eventually wen= t back to
   Paragon for
     &nb= sp;  assistance.  They helped me alot.  I learned alo= t about the
   Integrator
     &n= bsp;  programming approach and how to get the stuff to work pro   
perly.  From a
     &nbsp= ;  technical perspective, they were great to work with (I of co   
urse expected
      &nbsp= ; to and did pay them for the help).  Even though we shouldn't    
have to pay
       <= /span> to fix MAPICS bugs, sometimes you gotta cut your losses and
   realize = the
        b= attle isn't worth fighting.  I wanted the application to work and
   was<= BR>     willi= ng to spned money to get there.

    &nb= sp;   Now we're slowing working on the application.  = It's internal
   at the
     &nbs= p;  moment, so no revenue incentive to work hard on it.  B= ut the
   concept is
