A MAPICS reorg will remove deleted records from your mapics files. This will cleanup some space and make any very large files better performers. The IBM reclaim storage will cleanup IBM operating system temporary storage that hasn't been released. We do a MAPICS reorg about 4 times a year. We do a AS/400 reclaim storage perhaps twice a year. I'm new to the 400 so no laughing, I have never done and IPL on this server. I was told by a tech at MAPICS to do a monthly IPL and do a recapture of space. Is this standard practice? Will it improve performance? We are looking at cleaning up some files that have grown very large. I'm assuming we would do the recapture after cleaning these up. Thanks for any assistance.
