We recently upgraded our I-Series and actually dropped a tier according to IBM's tier matrix. We actually doubled our CPW & still went down 2 tiers. We went from a 820 to a 520. Are your customers going to a much larger box, doesn't sound like it from the comment they are staying in the same tier. Is the tier according to IBM or MAPICS? Most of our ALF's or maintenance fees from our vendors actually dropped because of us switching tiers. MAPICS was not effected because we are on concurrent users. About 4 years ago we bit the bullet & switched to concurrent users on MAPICS, just because they were killing us when we upgraded hardware. Steve Jones "Eric A. The question deals with any additional fees from MAPICS to move to the new box. I have 3 customers that are interested in upgrading to a new box but have been told by the affiliate that it could range in the hundreds of thousands of dollars to do so. Here is what they want to do: 1) NO NEW MODULES 2) NO CHANGE IN LICENSING AGREEMENT (IE: KEEP WHATEVER METHOD THAT IS CURRENTLY LICENSED) 3) STAY ON THE SAME TIER BOX (upgrade is primarily for faster box, more dasd, more memory) Has anyone gone through this and have you had to pay for MAPICS to give you the license keys? MAPICS, if you see this message, please contact me offline so we can discuss this... Thanks to all... Eric A.
