Hi Tim, 1. Tailor your system for "immediate update" mode. 2. Write a CL to change suspended batches to "C" Closed [NOTE: Never mark as Finished. MAPICS has a routine that keeps statistics and costs updated and marks closed batches as "F" Finished after the Register is run. It is during the register run that the statistics, costs and some of the cycle count triggers are updated.] Change "A" Active to "C" Closed. 3. Use the MAPICS Pre-Backup commands. As someone else noted, the CL written in step one can't run if the user is on the system. [Note: never force a user off the system while in the middle of an immediate update batch. Strange results may occur. 4. Write a CL to Run the Inventory Transactions Register. Put the CL into the MAPICS Pre-Backup Routine after the CL written in step 2. [Note: as an optional step I include the Item Balance / Item Location reconciliation report so if there were any partially posted "A" active records you at least get a printout.] You can now safely and effectively resolve all issues automatically, EXCEPT if there is a current user with an open IM Batch. So step 5: Wire their computer to provide a static shock if they attempt to walk away from their screen. That will teach them! It is not a difficult program to write. The only issue that needs to be resolved is how do you want to handle the batches left open or suspended? Especially the suspended batches, since the info may not have been posted to IM.
