Personal menus go way back, even before DB MOD 4.

We still use them because people here have been using them for over 20
years! They are being phased out as Browser takes over.

They served their purpose as a means to control who could do things...and
who couldn't. (Before CAS security?)

As far as the F keys go, that was an IBM engineered deal, SAA. (Standard
Application Architecture) MAPICS followed it most of the time. It's a
good thing, and even Microsoft
adopted it, as well as other developers.

Standards are a good thing, following them - even better!

RE: Tortuous interface in Mapics DB...

Dan, Personal menus is something they introduced in XA... Whom ever is
helping you get to XA from DB... Don't let them talk you into Personal
menus...
Mapcics has a better menu system now. Easeir to add menu options to Mapics
or create you own completely with Mapics options mixed in with user
jobs...

Myself I think getting around Mapics is much easier. But the Cmd 24 to
exit some screens is still there...

Not sure what you mean by that, but we are using the menu "system" as
shipped by Mapics. Again, this is Mapics DB mod 4.
