David, The easiest way to handle multi-member files, such as the SHPACT and other Mapics batch transaction files, is to use a CL program to create an override and then run the report. First build a subset based on the file as if it was a regular database file, include links to any other files necessary for your reporting. Then to include all of the batches in a report, setup an override to the filename defined in the subset - whether it is a physical or a logical file. For the shop activity transactions, use an override as follows: OVRDBF FILE(SHPACT) MBR(*ALL) The member option *ALL will cause all batches to be included. After setting up the override, to run the report from the CL, use the RPTRUN command. This command is designed to run reports in batch and accepts parameters for the record selections. IWPDTA/RPTRUN REPORT(MYREPORT) SELECT('X' 'Y' 'Z') For the select parameter, make an entry for each selection in the sequence defined in the report. Thats all there is to it. You have been very helpful. Through your input we have been able to verify our data and move forward. Now I have two more questions: What is a good source to read to understand more completely the issue of AS/400 files, members, records, etc? For those who use IWP or Jacana, is there a way to link the SHPACT file in a subset such that the order number in all of the batch records can be pulled to a report. If not, then the batches were opened, but nothing entered. If there is a record count, takt one of the batch numbers and append it to the member name that begins with "BCH" when you do a RUNQRY on the SHPACT file. For example, if the batch number is 597, run the following command: RUNQRY QRYFILE((AMTLIBx/SHPACT BCH597)) This will display the records in batch 597. We currently have five suspended batches of labor transactions in PCC but the SHPACT file has no records. Does this make sense? Does anyone know the name of the file that holds these records?
