Phil, I have experienced the desire to "merge" companies. Often times on the surface this looks to be a great idea, and most times it is. One word of caution is to sit with your accounting group and review what reporting requirements there are after all of the operational activities. What I am inferring to is do you need to produce seperate financial statements for your divisions, or will you be consolidating their results. I bring this up because I went through this with one client and as we walked through the financials (they were the AM financials of XA), we found that the CFO wanted to maintain his seperate balance sheets and financial statements for each division. This requirement threw a "monkey wrench" into the works. We did work through it. Good luck.... Phil Brewer <philbrewer@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: Hi All, I'm new to this list and new to Mapics too. Where I work use Mapics V6, COM, CAS, PUR, IM .... We are in the process of installing IFM, we currently use CODA as our financial package. Currently one of our environments has two companies 1 and 2. It has been decided that, before installing IFM, these companies need to merge i.e. all company 2 customers etc. will become company 1 and then company 2 will disappear. Has anybody else ever done this ? Any tips ? Is it feasible ? My current thinking is that i will have to manually change the company number from 2 to 1 on _every_ file that has a company field on it......not a simple task.
