Well, if people are posting products for solutions to this problem, another very effective way to customize (and limit) reports in MAPICS is to use New Generation Software's IQ (Intelligent Query) product. We own package, and it allows you to do everything that Query/400 does (fast and easy report and file generation), plus you can have it do prompts for input in the Record Selection criteria. It can output to a printed report, an iSeries file, or a file on your PC desktop. I have found it to be a very useful, flexible tool - I wish IBM would have released a newer version of Query that has these options. And no, I don't work for New Generation Software - just a satisfied user who uses this product, and not as much as I probably should. I frequently think (afterwards, of course), that I could have done a project, exported to Excel (which it can do), and let the user do the report on their own. Sometimes we old-timers get stuck in a rut..... :) Of course, this entire topic on this thread would be unnecessary if MAPICS would require beginning and ending values on the report request, with a "print everything" option if desired. That should be on the "suggestion list" (if it isn't).
