Terry, Yes, you can do a refresh from a savefile. I even wrote a version that does a refresh from the actual AMFLIB library. Tape is actually faster for me, but that's on my system, with my tape drive. The SMZ010B SYSCTL modification program does need to run. All you need to do is change the &ENVD parm to whatever environment you are refreshing in the calling CL program (LOADMEMAG in my sample). I'm not an AS/400 or MAPICS guru, but your "fast refresh CL" looks very useful. One question: could it be modified to refresh from a disk savefile instead of tape? I run MAPICS Backup every night to the default savefile library, then transfer the library to tape using the normal AS/400 backup process later that night. I would love to have a CL script to instantly refresh my test environment from the production environment, using the last savefile or one restored from tape. We don't have a MagStar, just the default 6386-001 QIC tape device I've reviewed your script, think I understand it, pretty well commented...had a bit more trouble deciphering the SMZ010B RPG program, not sure if I needed to modify it, since our Production environment is "OO" and our Test environment is "ZZ" Terry J. (Nailite) == Re: Website for MAPICS users Michael, I think a "user posting" website would be a great idea. As you may know, I keep a small one out there with some tips and sample source code listings for stuff we've done with MAPICS that has really paid off (Offline Shipping and a fast refresh CL for a test environment) - I'll be putting some new stuff on it shortly for some helpful additions to Purchasing (Vendor Acknowledgement reminders and a vendor item expediting request form) that have saves us (literally) 3-4 man days per week. However, people don't know about it unless they ask me. I think an "official" web site would be very cool - especially if it was organized by application. If you want to look at mine, go to http://www.fft-inc.com/offship.html - I'll bet you can't guess what was first out there! :) Dale @ Fleetwood Folding Trailers michael.ellis@xxxx nternet.com To: mapics-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx Sent by: cc: mapics-l-bounces@x Subject: Re: Website for MAPICS users idrange.com 05/30/03 12:36 PM Please respond to MAPICS ERP System Discussion Konrad made a great suggestion, I think. We batted it around in our office and we would be glad to discuss hosting such a website (on our AS/400, of course). We collect a variety of tips/techniques that we could use to "prime the pump".
