RE: Duplicate Customers

Thanks.  That is what I was thinking we would have to do.  We don't have
IFM, but I was curious if there was a way to rid ourselves completely of a
number of customers that were dumped into our system from an acquision.  You
answered my question, I appreciate it a lot.

Ted, Don't even think of doing this! It is almost as bad as combining item
numbers. You have to change every file where the customer number occurs
(probably 200-300 + history). If you are using IFM, you have to make the
same change with entities and this adds at least 50 more files.

A better approach is to eliminate duplicate customers by disabling all
customers other than the one that you want to keep going forward. There is
an Enterprise Code in the customer master that you can use to link the
duplicates and then report / query as if they were one customer. IFM has an
Entity Group field that does the same thing.
