Steve, It sounds like you've put a lot of effort in developing that Access program. Why don't you setup an ODBC connection so you can modify the Access program to validate item#'s etc against the Mapics DB. You could also add another function to the Access program to selectively move your master formulation data up to the Mapics Files to eliminate the double entry. We presently have an in house stand alone developed PC application (Access Database) for creating, and maintaining our Master Formulation Data Sheets. Being stand alone and not integrated with Mapics in any way we are having many issues concerning security, item numbers used in Master Formulation Sheets and transcribing errors. The transcribing issue is the most difficult because the data contained on our Master Formulation Sheets have to be reentered into Mapics ( PDM (Bill of Material), and IM ( item costing)) as well as creating Batch Data Sheets, Product Specification Sheets (QA), Sales Specification Sheets (Sales Dept), and Certificate of Conformance, I am looking to see if anyone has found a package that can be integrated into Mapics and is flexible enough to be able to create all the additional paperwork required. Revision control is also important. Look forward to hearing of any successes in this area or any ideas.
