We have had to do this same thing because MAPICS does not support Reference
designators(BOM callouts)
for placement of components on FABS.

We have an offline Access Database that gets updated by MAPICS and all of our
BOMS
that we send to our Contract Manufacturers get generated from this "Home Grown"
app.

We originally purchased MAGIK (now a MAPICS offering) so that we would not have
to do this,
but it was not ready for prime-time when we went live 2 years ago, and had to do
this last minute.

We still own MAGIK, but have NEVER even been able to use it, as it was all smoke
and mirrors,
still gives us NO VALUE WHATSOEVER, just a glorified workflow tool! At the
time, it was touted as
doing everything that AGILE would do for us as far as BOMS and communication
with our CM's.

(Wow, guess I'm venting a bit, hope someone at MAPICS reads this!!!???)

Hello All,

Anyone have a pc app (excel or access) that uses ODBC, etc. and has a
SQL query that successfully will produce an indented bill of material?
We're working on a little project where we want to throw the BOM into
Access or Excel and can't seem to put together the proper joins to
accomplish this. Probably something simple. Any hints, examples, etc.
appreciated.

Thanks,

Tom Wood
