This is a multipart message in MIME format. -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] EPDM also has an Implementation Status which allows you to contol whether the item is available for production. This could be used at either the beginning or the end of a products life-cycle. How we handle that is that when we obsolete a part from production, we change the planner number to a specific range for the part (97, 98, or 99 - depending on usage). That triggers mental notes to people. We also have some specific programs to do things to those items that run nightly (should be triggers, but we wrote them before triggers existed), such as set a base price of $999999999, change the description to start with "OBSOLETE" or "OBSO", and such related things. We have the situation where an item has become obsolete and has been used in the past in many product structures. A new item has been created to replace the obsolete item. However, we need to keep the obsolete item in the database so that historical product structures can be retrieved in the event repair is needed. Is there a method in MAPICS where a part can be flagged to make it unavailable to be used in newly created product structures? All words of wisdom are appreciated.
