I agree with Dale. Documentation on how to submit batch jobs is something we should have had a long time ago. It wouldn't take a whole lot of effort on their part and would go a long way toward customer good will! -----Original Message----- From: DaleGindlesperger@fft-inc.com [mailto:DaleGindlesperger@fft-inc.com] Sent: Wednesday, November 27, 2002 10:09 AM To: mapics-l@midrange.com Subject: RE: Automating our monthend procedure This is a multipart message in MIME format. -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] Josue, Yep, that'd sure do it! But wouldn't it be a nice Christmas present if MAPICS would give us an informational PTF with all the specs already laid out on how to submit all the batch jobs - how to load the LDA and such for standard batch reporting/updates? Like MRP generation, AR closing, and so on? What we have done in the past is download CL source from MAPICS when available (i.e. the program that submits the Aged Receivables Report) to look at the submit command used. To determine how the LDA should be built we hold QBATCH, submit the job, check for the job on JOBACT file, copy the LDA fields, identify the paremeters that would change on the LDA (i.e. month to process) and start testing 'til we get it right. Takes a bit of testing but once you get it it's easier to do any additional job submitions. -----Original Message----- From: Leland, David [mailto:dleland@Harter.com] Sent: Wednesday, November 27, 2002 10:49 AM To: 'mapics-l@midrange.com' Subject: Automating our monthend procedure This message is in MIME format. Since your mail reader does not understand this format, some or all of this message may not be legible. -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] I would like to create a CL program that, at monthend time, runs a set of MAPICS A/R procedures automatically, without user interaction. The specific procedures I would like to run are: 1) Aged Receivables Report 2) Paid Item Purge 3) Monthend Close 4) Temporary G/L Print Currently, we have to have a person run each of these steps manually. Is there a 3rd party tool that would allow me to capture the runtime environment (LDA, Library List, Job Switches, QTEMP library, etc, etc.) so that I could determine how to run these from within my own CL program? Or, is there a 3rd party out there that already has the ability to do this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
