Hi Ed,

You can change the item type of the old component to 0, change the leadtime
code to M, then structure the new item into the old.  Now that the old item
is a phantom, requirements for it will cause it's inventory to be depleted;
at which time, planned purchase orders will begin for the replacement
component.

What approaches do people use to deal with components as far as using up a
component before switching over to a replacement component?  We use MRP to
plan the items involved and they are purchased components.  Thanks in
