Hi, I am sure the replacement item should be (must be) with a new part number. You also know upto how many orders (say 'X') this item will lost. Do a Product structure maintenance before the 'X+1' orders, to have the new component in place. In fact I remember mapics using the active period also for a particular component usage in PSTRUC. Kindly verify. Thanks, Devendran A -----Original Message----- From: Ed Chabot [mailto:echabot@marlinfirearms.com] Sent: Saturday, October 19, 2002 1:12 AM To: MAPICS Mailing List Subject: Component use-up methods What approaches do people use to deal with components as far as using up a component before switching over to a replacement component? We use MRP to plan the items involved and they are purchased components. Thanks in advance.
