This is a multi-part message in MIME format. -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] Krishan, As Joan states, a large percentage of the work is finding the data in Mapics. You may also want to consider Info WorkPlace, the Mapics report writer and data extraction application. Using Info WorkPlace (IWP), you do not need to know what files have the data you want, nor how to link them. IWP manages the data access. All you need to do is locate the fields you want, define selections, sorts, even calculations and you can output an Excel spreadsheet or PC database file directly from IWP. You did not specify which Mapics applications you are working with, IWP has a variety of pre-built views over the Mapics database covering most reporting needs. If you are interested in Info WorkPlace or ValetMiner, contact your Mapics affiliate or reply to me off list for a demo. Note: Momentum Utilities is the developer of Info WorkPlace and ValetMiner suite of applications. PrepP allows you to download any AS/400 report or query (spool file), and VM parses it into Excel, Access, or any number of other formats. If your company has the Client (Browser), it is easier yet - select the view that contains the data you want and copy to clipboard, then paste into Excel. Again - no programming! If you're going to write programs against MAPICS database, you will need EXTENSIVE work to understand where the data you need resides in those tables (files). Once you know WHERE the data is, getting it to the PC is easy! Finding the data is 99.9% of the work... PS I do not work for Momentum (makers of VM/PrepP) or for MAPICS. -- Joan Joan McCready, IS Manager phone: 636-479-4499 MetalTek International fax: 636-479-3399 The Carondelet Division www.metaltekint.com 8600 Commercial Blvd Pevely, MO 63070 -----Original Message----- From: Sweety Honey [mailto:chewagama@hotmail.com] Sent: Tuesday, September 03, 2002 2:36 AM To: mapics-l@midrange.com Subject: Help Me Hi...
