Konrad, I agree with your assessment. The problem is large and keeping up with maintenance and effectivity dates can be confusing. Mistakes are easy to make. I also agree that the real solution is to use the ITMRVX databases for all modules and to eliminate the ITEMASX databases completely. As you said, it will probably be several releases before all of the modules are converted. In the meantime, EPDM has its advantages but the user must be careful to recognize that many MAPICS modules still use the ITEMASX databases. If you have several revisions and you maintain a back level one, or just maintain one, pick any one, that one gets sent to PDM regardless of revision number. So in our case when we were trying to maintain different purchase prices by revision, typically the item master c record that purchasing uses was incorrect. It depended on what was maintained last and who maintained it. We have also had to adopt the policy of effectivity dating out an old revision and effectivity dating in a new revison or deleting the old revision. Otherwise the rest of MAPICS can get way confused since when two component parts are equally effective if not part of the active EPDM bill it will chose the first. So it would be real nice to have revision in the rest of the MFG apps but I don't expect it anytime soon. Anyone find any other good workarounds?
