I don't believe there is any way in QRY. (Oh please, if there is, somebody tell us.) In SQL you can ... select rrn(mbc6rep) from mbc6rep where c6cvnb = '1017147' gives you the record number of the order header record for order number 1017147. (And if you don't have SQL, you can use QMQRY which is included on all AS/400's...) Bill Roha Stant Manufacturing Inc. >>> aldg1@charter.net 06/27/02 04:01PM >>> Hi Mapics ML: (This question may not be on point as far as Mapics is concerned but it deals with a Mapics (or IBM AS/400) related utility.) Is there a way, using Query/400, to extract the Record Number from a record in a Non-Keyed Physical DB File onto the face of the Query Report? With a Non-Keyed Physical DB File, there is no KEY so access to a particular record in the file, using either DBU or DFU, requires prior knowledge of the record's Record Number. In our case, the DB file is a Sales Order Listing file that if it were a Keyed Physical DB File, the principal KEY field would be the Sales Order Number field. If there's "no" way to get a known Sales Order's Record Number printed on a Query Report using Query/400, are there other ways of obtaining this information outside of Query/400? At the present time, our Sales Department lady just searches thru the DB file (probably using DBU) until she finds the record she need to edit. It's time consuming and there must be a more efficient way to accomplish this task. I look forward to your comments.
