We initially did not allow ANY new transactions during month-end, but when we installed MDCC (PaperLess) we had to change our thinking. For just about every month-end accounting transaction, you can (or have to) select a date range. When we are making manual adjustments for month-end cleanup, we make sure to "backdate" the transaction date (not the posting date, which I don't think you can touch) to the previous month, while allowing the on-going IM transactions from MDCC to flow through PMC into IM transaction history with the current (new month) date. Everything ends up in the correct place. You just have to re-think what you are processing... The ONLY transactions we hold now is entering new Customer Orders, because we have MMA and perform a COM close to get things into the correct "buckets." COM close doesn't look at transaction date - it just clears everything in the MTHACTx files - so we have to hold new order entry so the bookings end up in the correct month. If this does not work, through Cross Application Security, you can secure the transactions. This is done by removing all persons from doing transactions. After month end is done, you need to open the security up. We hold the jobq's, but it interferes with other folks getting their work done and we have to release one job at a time until the close is complete. *********************************************************** This email has been scanned for viruses. *********************************************************** _______________________________________________ This is the MAPICS ERP System Discussion (MAPICS-L) mailing list To post a message email: MAPICS-L@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/mapics-l or email: MAPICS-L-request@midrange.com Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/mapics-l. _______________________________________________ This is the MAPICS ERP System Discussion (MAPICS-L) mailing list To post a message email: MAPICS-L@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/mapics-l or email: MAPICS-L-request@midrange.com Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/mapics-l.
