OK - this is going to be very useful IF we can do it with eWP!!! Any
suggestions? I'm tearing my hair out here!

Dave, well, I DIDN'T know to enter a different worstation name - I had it
hard-coded, according to the explanation in Lisa's e-mail/Rolf's
explanation. I'm experimenting with these instructions right now, and I can
see that the next time we upgrade the Clients (i.e. touch all the PC's),
we're going to change the naming!!! This will be a wonderful addition to our
tools when we are asked "who did that?!?"

If you're using Client Access Express, just use the &COMPNM* to name your
sessions. The session will be the PC's network name with a letter on the
end. For example, my home PC's name is DHS01. If I open 4 sessions, the
sessions are DHS01A, DHS01B, DHS01C, and DHS01D. I only need one
workstation definition on the PC to do this.

Joan, I don't understand why you couldn't open a second session, you just
need to enter a different workstation name when you start the second one -
or leave it blank, like you're presumably doing anyway.

Yes, I agree. (This solution occurred to me after I sent the last reply.)
This is a solution we use with PaperLess (a.k.a. MDCC) and the shopfloor
data terminals (PC's), but it doesn't allow a second session, so that's the
only place we use named Client sessions.

(I named my at-home PC session, then got "hung" when I was doing some
maintenance work and got that lovely "waiting for reply from QSYSOPR"
message and couldn't open the second session to see what the problems was!)

It has at least allowed us to track transactions when the transactions come
in via PMC....

DO NOT name the sessions in Client Access. We tried to identify source of
transactions this way and brought system to its knees. TCP/IP network and
MAPICS cannot resolve naming issues for multiple sessions on PC with
different names. What to do, still an open issue with us also.
