No, the sub-assemblies would never be shipped by themselves. I guess I should clarify a couple of points. First of all, we're using KBC, so we would be looking at the resulting item numbers generated out of KBC. Secondly, we would only be looking at certain items identified by use of item class code. These items would be the top level items, so we would then be checking availability of the lower level items (sub-assemblies). All lower level sub-assemblies must be available in order for us to auto-generate the MO. There would be no assembly involved prior to shipping. The appropriate sub-assemblies would simply be pulled off the shelf and shipped together in order to fulfill the requirement based on the KBC generated top-level item. -----Original Message----- From: mapics-l-admin@midrange.com [mailto:mapics-l-admin@midrange.com] On Behalf Of lweaver@guidetechnologies.com Sent: Friday, May 17, 2002 3:32 PM To: mapics-l@midrange.com Subject: RE: Automatic creation of MO's from CO's. Are the sub-assemblies available to ship? If so, why not consider COM kits? One of our clients required auto MOs from COs, and we wrote something for them. It sounds like there are several options to choose from.
