This is a multipart message in MIME format. -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] Bud, We are sort of doing that with an electronic kanban system we developed, except that we generate suspended I/M Order Release batches, and manually close and post them on a schedule. For those specific orders, the IT department runs the order release batch due to different paperwork requirements on the shop packets. However, it wouldn't be hard to change the batch to a closed status rather than a suspended status. That doesn't run out of a COM User Exit, but we do use the COM User Exits to place orders with vendors for outsourced parts when orders are placed through COM for those parts and we don't have any on hand. That's a lot like what you want to do. There is a company called Mainstay Application Systems, formerly a MAPICS affiliate called S-H Systems in the old days before the reorgs in MAPICS, that has a package called Product Configurator - sort of an step in-between Features and Options and KBC in COM that lets you configure a part and release an MO for it. The package has all the logic required to build I/M Order Release batches. We modified that for our kanban system to take out the data entry part and just have it generate orders for the required parts. Sounds like that may be really close to what you are looking for. You can reach Mainstay at 1-717-292-9939, or send an e-mail for more information to MAINSTAY@paonline.com and Pete Sultatos (it's his company) will get back to you. Or if you want, you can contact me directly via e-mail and I could send you a source listing of how we generate the orders. We have a need to automatically generate MO's and I'm wondering if anyone has done this. This is what we want to do. When an order is entered through COM order entry a custom program would execute from a user exit. This program would check to see if the item ordered is in stock and unallocated (already built and on the shelf). If so, we would want an MO to be automatically created and released so the component items are properly relieved from inventory via the MO and the paperwork is produced. We just want to eliminate the extra labor involved in entering the MO and releasing it when we know the item is already available for shipment.
