Chris,

We actually do this ourselves, especially with the master schedule. We
work up the master schedule using a scheduling program on the AS/400,
output the data to a spreadsheet for printing and distribution (we also
output it to a Lotus Notes database for our remote sales force to access
via the web), revisions and such can be made to the spreadsheet, then we
upload the data back to the AS/400, then load it to MAPICS. Incidentally,
we had to write our own offline load for MPSP - MAPICS doesn't provide
that (yet - hint hint to MAPICS).

We use mostly Client Access for file transfers, that works best and is
basically free (or at least included in the price). However, you really
should write programs with edits and such to load the offline files. Our
experience has been that it is difficult to get the users to put ALL the
required data fields in a file load, and also to have it accurate. For
the applications that we have used off-line loads, the users did the
upload themselves (we saved the transfer TTO as a desktop icon), ran the
off-line load prepare and audit, then submited the off-line load, all
controlled by the users.

Another option that might eliminate the need for transfers, and keep
things simpler, might be to look at some of the AS/400 spreadsheet
packages that are available. We have one that our sales department uses
occasionally, called "DeskWorks", which offers most of the standard
spreadsheet capabilities, and the plus of being on the AS/400, and works
with 5250.

Does anyone know of any software packages that you are using to upload
spreadsheets or comma delimited files into mapics offline load files? Or
are
you just using client access?

I need some software that the end user can use to upload data? We are
increasingly getting more requests by users for them to have the
capability
to upload spreadsheets of data into MAPICS.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
