This is a multipart message in MIME format. -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] Roy, Since 1993, we used Kronos for time and attendance and factory labor collection, along with Kronos' attendant add-on packages for history and reporting, and had found it to be quite reliable, and it handled all our requirements. It interfaced well (we interfaced in batch mode - I understand it can do it realtime) with MAPICS and worked well for us. However, upgrade and maintenanace costs (for us, at least) got to be too expensive, especially the Y2K stuff, which they wanted us to do a complete replacement of hardware and software to handle (over $100K for us!). That would have cost comfortably more than the entire initial project. We very recently (went fully live earlier this month) completed an installation of MAPICS' MDCC (formerly called Paperless Manufacturing and Control, or PLMC), and so far are pleased with how it works. One item to keep STRONGLY in mind on this is system performance at the terminals. We opted for the graphical interface using touch screen PCs (the package uses PowerBuilder), and it seems quite reliable so far, but we have some response time issues that we are addressing by adding memory to our AS/400 (iSeries). If you use the PowerBuilder version on the clients there are very limited "tailoring" options; it covers about anything needed for standard MAPICS use, but you can't add fields and such to displays. We are also very interested in implementing some of the more advanced capabilities for our manufacturing floor, such as I/M back flushing inventory to operations and such. We have no HR requirements at our company beyond keeping records of hours worked and jobs worked on, so I can't comment on any of that. Hope this helps some! Since your mail reader does not understand this format, some or all of this message may not be legible. -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] To Whom It May Concern: We are in the process of reviewing different packages for Data Collection and Time & Attendance - DCSI / HIGHJUMP and HR - PERMS. Our company is currently running Mapics/DB, with the old DCSI and PERMS packages and we are planning to implement Mapics/XA in the next year or so. In preparation for that we are looking at what packages are available and the consensus of users and their thoughts who have implemented or used the newer DCSI / HIGHJUMP and PERMS packages or other packages, and why they choose them over HIGHJUMP and PERMS. The current versions of these packages are ridiculous and riddled with problems. So we are looking for as many opinions on the Data Collection, Time & Attendance and HR systems - as possible. Roy W.
