Hi Ed Chabot: Thanks again for your followup letter. I was able to make the changes to the STDUC field in the ITEMBL file using a CS (Standard Cost Replacement) Inventory Transaction. It worked fine...without using DBU. > "On MAPICS XA rel. 5.0, you need to use item master maintenance, not > item >balance maintenance to change the standard cost." I was taught at the Mapics school in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin that by having the STDUC in the ITEMBL file, it allows you to have "different" Standard Costs for the same Item Number located in different warehouses. This could be useful in several ways: 1) freight-in cost differences due to having warehouses located at different distances from the supplier or perhaps; 2) if your company produces the same product at two or more different plants, each plant would create its own independent Standard Cost for a given Item Number. If this field in Mapics XA, Rel. 5.0, has been moved to the Item Master A-Record file, I wonder if you still have the same capabilities of having multiple Standard Costs for the same Item Number for the situations described above? We used to have a test evironment of XA on our system but I believe our Information Systems person may have removed it in an attempt to utilize disk storage in more meaningful ways. So I'm unable to access it to see if the STDUC field has migrated to a different Mapics Master File. I appreciate all you assistance on this matter and I hope that in the future I may be able to help you with one of your problems. I look forward to your followup comments at your convenience. Have youself a very good week.
