Yes, we ship common carrier.  We currently use a PC rating package called
ExpressWorks from Roadway, which isn't currently integrated (pretty
primitive).  I am currently working with Roadway to see how to get similar
capabilites as we get from UPS and FedEx Ground.

Note: this isn't as slick as VARSITY Logistics (they offer more
capability, as I recall), but it's free.

I don't understand the question on how I label the shipments.  UPS and
FedEx assign tracking numbers (which we accept and add to the order, both
in the tracking number field and as order comments, using a batch RPG
program we wrote), Roadway assigns Pro-numbers, which I want to do the
same with.  Is that what you mean?

We are using VARSITY Logistics right now but perhaps we can save some
annual maint money.
Do you ship LTL as well?
And how do you label the shipments?
