This is a multipart message in MIME format. -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] Ted, We bill actual freight charges using a special charge line. The freight charges are put on our "shipper" (COM pick list) with a label from our UPS or FedEx Ground systems, or written on by a clerk using a common carrier freight rating system. During the billing process, they added a special charge line with the actual freight cost. Interestingly enough, MAPICS now offers a free (did you get that? FREE!) enhancement to COM called OFFSHIP. We have automated our shipping process using this extremely slick new feature (already reducing clerical work load from 3 to 2 in the shipping department), and will in 2 weeks have completed automated the COM billing process, receiving the freight charges directly from the UPS and FedEx Ground systems. OFFSHIP is an extremely slick enhancement that isn't getting the attention it deserves. I too am an older guy who used to rename m.sysctl to m.sysxxx to keep dedicated mode and also would try to keep a terminal on during backup so that I could control when the endless compress began- I vaguely remember all the 36 stuff that has been mentioned and the nightmare of hours of ptfs and when "this may take a loooooong time" was a true statement. Now, my COM question.... We do have a flat rate for shipping most items. We would like a way to capture the actual ship charge. My idea at first is to create another special charge of type 3 to capture the cost. I do not see any holes in this idea and that makes me a little nervous. I guess my question is what should I be aware of if I propose this solution? Thanks, Ted _______________________________________________ This is the MAPICS ERP System Discussion (Mapics-L) mailing list To post a message email: Mapics-L@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/mapics-l or email: Mapics-L-request@midrange.com
