In addition to this, it is quite dangerous (at least for me) if you do not consider situations like: a) Items with active open purchase/plan/mfg order(s) b) Items attached to BOMs. At least, I would consider any process that may be provided through MAPICS to help this project to be a little "smother" like OFFLINE maintenance and other tools. I have been involved in the past with production line integrations from one location to another and also product re-engineering activities. Generally speaking, people from different key departments have had to develop a documented process in such a way that the Production, Engineering, Accounting and Information Systems Departments (just to mention a few) have knowledge and control. In conclusion, I prefer to change to a new item procedurally instead of automatically. Regards and good weekend everybody! Think of all the records in history that will need to be changed. I not sure this is such a wise move. -----Original Message----- From: Shurge, Stephen (MTL) [mailto:sshurge@recochem.com] Sent: Friday, July 13, 2001 1:09 PM To: 'MAPICS-L@midrange.com' Cc: Shurge, Stephen (MTL) Subject: Changing of Item Numbers I am looking to see if anyone has developed a way of changing one item number to another item number throughout the entire Mapics database. If anyone has a list of all the fields and files that need to be changed would be a good starting point. I have a cross referencing utility (Hawkeye) that I can use to help me but would sooner use a proven method if available.
