Hi Al!

Yes, manufacturing orders must start with a "M", just as purchasing orders must 
start with a "P".
I believe that the original design for MAPICS was to have all orders in one 
file and separate them by the prefix code.
But the system processing limitations back then, forced IBM to split the orders 
into separate files.

Environment: Mapics DB/Y2K (Mod 4)
IM, PDM, PC&C

Hi Mapics ML Group:

I was looking the Mapics PC&C Manual trying to determine how Manufacturing 
Numbers are structured and assigned.

It appears that the numbers are incremented in tens; therefore the last digit 
is always a "zero."  The exception to this is when
MO's are split and then one of the MOs may have a "5" in the last digit.

What about the first digit; does it have to me a letter "M?"
