Hi Mapics ML members:

General Mapics Info: 1. Our company uses Mapics DB or Y2K, Mod 4
2. Tailoring information: Under Information Management (IM), the Inventory
Costing Method selected is Standard Costs 3. IM interfaces with Product Data
Management (PDM) and Production Control & Costing (PCC)

There are various "Cost" fields stored by Mapics in the Item Master A & B files
and the Item Balance file. These include:

Item Master A File (ITEMASA) - Unit Cost Default (UCDEF)

Item Master B File (ITEMASB) - Current Unit Cost (CURCU) and Standard Unit Cost
(STDUC)

Item Balance File (ITEMBL) - Average Unit Cost (AVCST) , Last Cost (LCOST) and
Standard Cost (STDUC)

I'm trying to understand how Mapics updates these different costs. Which costs
are automatically updated by Mapics and which ones have to be "user" updated?
If the cost is automatically updated, which Mapics module does the updating?

What Mapics options and tailorings affect the above answers; that is, change
the cost updating from automatic by Mapics to manual or vice versa.

I look forward to hearing from you at your convenience.

Regards......
