I'm new to MAPICS and the mfg. industry, started in 10/99. I've been in the
IT field for the past 20 years. I went to the conference to get a feel for
what MAPICS is and where it is going. I wanted to make sure that what I was
"observing" with the MAPICS system wasn't due solely to how my company
implemented MAPICS or how they used MAPICS. I came away from the conference
disappointed. My company is at a critical juncture right now. We need
desperately to upgrade our AS/400 and to do so MAPICS wants an ungodly sum
of money to allow us to do it.

I saw 'new' features and functions in MAPICS that have been available in
other systems for many years, yet they want us now to buy the new module so
we can take advantage of said features/functions. Yet every year we pay them
a very handsome maintenance fee. I had the opportunity to speak with a few
conference attendees and I heard some of the same concerns that I have. I
also spoke with attendees that loved MAPICS. Yes, I went to the conference.
No, I didn't come away with a warm & fuzzy about MAPICS the system or the
company. Has the slide down the slippery slope begun for MAPICS Inc.?

I apologize to the system moderator if my reply was to long. - Pat
