Everytime that you upgrade your OS, you must re-apply the MUI PTFs.. MUI will cause your system to lock up occasionally if you change the OS from under it. You should also re-apply the MUI PTFs after applying an OS CUM PTF. Last weekend we upgraded our OS from V4R1 to V4R4 and the upgrade went fine, but when we went to access MAPICS the system locked. We could not end the session even from QCONSOLE and had to IPL to get the job to end. Turns out a PTF must be applied to MAPICS, SH44998 for XA5. After applying this PTF everything is now fine. The description of the PTF says that the F1 & F4 keys will issue a message, but obviously we experienced something a little more drastic.
