We did a conversion from XA3 to XA5, must go to XA4 first, in our test
environment. It did not go well at all, but it was do to some things I will
explain. We only have one AS/400 for development & production, a 620-2175,
so it is running close to the max most of the time. When we started the
apply, the conversion program would not wait long enough for all the access
paths to be built before it tried to use one of them. MAPICS thinks that
you are doing the conversions on a dedicated machine, so "performance
issues" is not in their vocabulary. After convincing MAPICS that they need
to wait until the access paths are built before trying to use it, the rest
of the conversion ran well, L..O..N..G but well (why cant they change them
to run in batch is beyond us). MAPICS has fixed this problem in the latest
version of ACSAPPLY, (SH11992 I believe that is the SH#). The conversion
from XA4 to XA5 ran well, with no problems.

Make sure you get the license keys from MAPICS, or you will not be able to
use the new release.
