I too have had more than one experience with this type of response from MAPICS support. The reply, "...just a design thing..." has become an inside joke in our programming department. Too bad that the joke is at the expense of 1) the end-user, 2) in-house support staff, and 3) paid for by the annual licensing fees. Consider these issues as well: 1) Has anyone else had difficulties managing "blanket" customer orders? The Original Order Quantity has absolutely no auditory control over the quantities generated as blanket-releases. In addition, if user-written/supported programs are used to attempt to provide some measure of control, the field "Blanket item indicator" (CDZ903 in the MBCDREP file) is not populated. 2) Does anyone else have a use for the "Cancel after date" (CDAD0X in the MBC6REP file)? It has had a long history of use/support from many of our EDI-based Customers, but again, not populated in COM. 3) Once you have determined that a number of inactive Customer Accounts could be purged from the system, have you ever tried to select more than 13 at one time to be deleted? If you don't 'page-down' through all the confirmation screens, only the first 13 will actually be deleted... even though an "audit" report will be generated, showing that all selected accounts were purged. 4) Has anyone else attempted to 'prove-out' the values reported in the Inquiry Display 'Daily Recap'? If you use the definition from the MAPICS COM User-Guide, expect variances... especially if you do not select shipments for invoicing on the same day they were actually shipped. Our practice of producing an audit report to verify shipment activity and confirm carrier charges prior to next-day invoicing led us to discover that the value of a partially-shipped line-item goes to full-order-value. This had a nasty habit of temporarily inflating our 'In-shipping' totals. FYI - An issue similar to the one you have experienced in generating new Accounts is also reflected in Customer Contracts.
