Yes. I believe Windows Server and OS X Server are the only OS that
have a default to a GUI for server management.

There's a lot of stuff you can do without 5250, especially for
developers (WDSC), but in the end you'll still need it for something.

What about end users?

It depends on the application. For example, around 90% of our customer
base run the new generation of our product, which never exposes 5250,
except to run legacy QU1 queries. The remaining 10% refuse to leave to
5250-based product, on which all new development has ceased in 2000.

However, judging from what i've read on this list, there are quite a
few shops that prefer running 5250-only.
