too much hassle, too little benefit. It is much better to just supply
another software repository to an existing distribution (personally I
use 9.04 as vmware player is supported) and then just tell people the
few steps needed to add the software repository, and the "pull
everything in"-package name. The mechanism is described here:

A good long term goal would be to get the packages created in the main
Debian repository.
