Hi everyone,
I have been struggling to get Selection Field (menus) support into tn5250.
The IBM docs on the subject are here:
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/bookmgr/BOOKS/CO2E2001/15.6.13.5?DT=19950629163252
The first half of the page talks about how selection fields are defined
following the Define Selection Field structured field command. That part
I'm mostly ok with and have already done the majority of the work. The
problems I have now concern the second half of the page.
Starting about midway down that page is a bold heading that reads,
"Outbound Data Stream Processing". This is where I'm unsure what to do.
It appears that I need to a some fields to the field format table. It is
unclear to me what the structure of such additions should be and where
they should be. And specifically to tn5250, how do I add something to the
field format table? I don't think I want to use
tn5250_dbuffer_add_field() since it appears that is only for input capable
fields.
Also, when I activate a menu option the iSeries sends me the complete menu
again without an intervening clearing command, usually more than once. Is
this a result of me not sending the field format table back correctly?
Are the tn5250j guys seeing the same thing? Is there something I can do
to prevent the iSeries from resending the selection fields?
James Rich
