A few thoughts: 1) On FreeBSD (and presumably, other systems) there's no such thing as "glib-devel". It's just called "glib" -- AFIAK, glib-devel is a name only used when installing using RPMs. 2) Glib isn't required for the 0.16.x branch, which is the one we're making releases from.
