After some tinkering I found the answers to my question. It turns out to not be a compiling issue, but a xrdb issue. When using Henri's xt5250 script it calls 'xrdb /usr/share/tn5250/xt5250.keys' which tells X to use those settings instead of those in ~/.Xdefaults. When it did that it also got rid of some Mandrake default settings in ~/.Xdefaults such as scroll bar on and underLine off. I noticed this when I could no longer page down in x3270 using PgDown. So I just commented out the call to xrdb in xt5250 and tweaks some settings in ~/.Xdefaults and all is grand. When I compile tn5250-0.14.1 myself and when I run it I have to specify -u in order to see the field lines at all. What are the compiling options you do when you make the RPMs?
