Well we have progress, my fellow engineers. I've been able to successfully:

1. Put new ISO images for SuSE into IFS
2. Create an image catalog for them (CRTIMGCLG)
3. Add the images into the image catalog (ADDIMGCLGE)
4. Load the image catalog onto a virtual optical device (LODIMGCLG)
5. Vary on the catalog (VRYIMGCLG)
6. Vary on the optical device
7. Vary on the hosted partition (its named LINUX01)

...now according to the docs I should be able to telnet to port 2301 and
from there be able to interact with the installation program (kicked off by
booting the first image in the image catalog (SuSE ISO disk 1 of 6).

But the problem comes there. When I telnet to port 2301 I get the following
message after choosing the guest partition number for the Linux partition
(LINUX01) and entering my service tools userid/password:

LINUX01: Console connecting...

And that's it. No love. And I can't get any help from IBM either. Their
tech support can't seem to figure it out or provide me with any kind of
solution. (This time I actually got to a Linux support rep!)
