Did you try :

SS_save(book: xl_file);

Now you can't create an HSSF spreadsheet and write it as XSSF, and POI has
no conversion functionality, so you need to create the spreadsheet as

book = new_XSSFWorkbook();

or read an xlsx workbook as:

book = ss_open('mybook.xlsx');

But once you have an XSSFWorkbook, then you can write one. BTW, SS_open()
creates either an HSSF workbook, or an XSSF workbook based on the file
type, and SS_save() saves an HSSF workbook or an XSSF workbook based on the
workbook type that it is operating on.

I am trying to use the XSSF feature in the Apache POI but cannot find how
to write the file to disk. I have looked at the javadocs and the
XSSFWorkbook class has no write method. Does anyone know how to save the
file?

I am a newbie when it comes to Java but I have been using Scott Klement's
HSSFR4 for the xls type files. But I am frustrated with trying to guess how
to write the file for XSSF.
