Just FYI, Microsoft TechNet offers all of their operating systems, back to
6.x versions, also Windows 3.1, 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, etc.physical
A Technet subscription runs from $199 - $349 year ($599 if you wasn't
DVDs). You can access all of the content online.of
http://technet.microsofit.com
So it is wonderful that IBM provides support for old releases, but by way
comparison, MSFT offers the same support without requiring humanOrder
intervention.

Hi all,
I want to thank everyone that made suggestions on loading the System
Openness Includes and JDK 1.3 for v5.1 without the installation disks.
Ultimately, it was good old IBM that came through. They sent me a new set
of
v5.1 disks. I had to fill out a form and go through a process, Withdrawn
Process and Template for Archived Product Code --i/pSeries (nonfolks that I
zSeries) and, viola, a new set of disks arrived in the mail. All of the
talked to at IBM were helpful and knowledgeable. They seemed focused onmany
helping me with my issue and not just getting through the call, like so
other help desk centers I have dealt with. They even double checked withThey
me that I was okay with receiving these disks without software support.
were concerned about my being able to use them without help, not theirMicrosoft. It
getting a piece of the pie! (Try to get that kind of service from
would be the equivalent of asking MS for a set of replacement disks forplug
Windows 98 or NT.) Best of all, it was FREE!! I am sorry for the blatant
here, but IBM support ROCKS!!!IP
Now that I have that fixed, do I need to set up a TCP/IP connection on the
AS400 with the server hosting the SQL database before trying to perform
Java/SQL commands to access data from it or just provide a path with the
address when I submit a connect command? I ask because my attempts thuslist
far have proved fruitless.
Thanks,
