I wonder if J.S.S. means JMS type message queues, similar to MQ Series.
JMS is pretty widely used in cross-platform Java scenarios.

What advantage do they have over data queue's?
I said "In theory" only because it's message queue's are not what I would
think of when someone mentions transferring bulk data between processes.
