Correct, it is in ASCII PCL format. I need to convert this to a PDF file, somehow.
I am familiar with Java so it's my first option. I had hoped to find a native process in OS/400 that can perform the conversion, but no such luck just yet.

I am having trouble with reading a SpooledFile that has a Printer Device
Type of *USERASCII, however. I have tried using
getTransformedInputStream but keep getting a generic error message.
I have tried getInputStream() but I get a ton of garbage characters back
in the stream.

If I recall correctly *USERASCII means that the printing system just
consider it a binary blob instead of anything with lines and overlays
and such.

Would the garbage characters happen to be valid PCL (HP printer language)?
