By default your JDBC is AUTOCOMMIT *YES. You just need to change this when you create the connection.

AUTOCOMMIT does a commit for you after every JDBC call.

Subject: Re: Commit and rollback when calling stored procedure written in SQLRPGLE from java using JDBC

Hi
This is very intresting,
I created a SQLRPGLE program, and then compiled it with commit(*CHG) option, then created a Store procedure.
When i call this SP from java using JDBC (JT400), i could not control commit or rollback,

So then i created another SQLRPGLE program with following code /free if type = 'COMMIT'; Exec SQL commit; else; Exec SQL rollback; endif;

Then created another store procedure to call this new SQLRPGLE program, then i called this program to control commit and rollback and it worked as expected.

Does this mean i cannot control commit, rollback from JDBC, but call stored procedure to do so?

Any ideas

Bad idea...

You're introducing a order dependency where none may have been there
before.

The accepted solutions
1) Have a wrapper stored procedure that calls the other 10 then does
commit/rollback
2) Allow the client to do the commit/rollback

There's pluses and minus to each way...

Writer your commit/rollback code in your last SP.
Let all other SP executes and writes to Journal... In your last SP,
check
for errors, if error then rollback...or commit.
All your SPs should be in line with this transaction.. In general,
data
are committed or rolled back as a transaction..

Hi
I already have tables journled, i would like to commit and rollback
from
JDBC because i can call 10 SP one after other and then rollback them
all if there is any issue in the last SP,

Hi
I want to commit or rollback from java, for example i will call

I do not want to commit or rollback from stores procedure Ashish

For commit/rollback to work over JDBC, the table(s) must have
journalling enabled if I recall correctly. This must be done on
the server side.
